The real facts about UV Radiation

365 days a year, rain or shine the sun has a direct effect on the aging process of your skin by emitting both UVA & UVB radiation.

UVA Radiation is omnipresent and impacts your skin from 7am-5pm daily. UVA is known as the “Aging Rays” and responsible for destroying collagen and elastin causing visible damage resulting in wrinkles and sagging. UVA also stimulates pigment producing melanocytes causing liver spots, in some cases hypomelanosis, and is directly responsible for each and every freckle!

UVB Radiation is strongest from 10am-2pm daily and is known as the “Burning rays.” UVB is responsible for causing visible and painful sun burning to your skin and in the long-term dangerous types of skin cancer.

UVA & UVB Rays reflect onto your face from all angles including the ground, snow, water, sand, and windows in addition to beaming down directly from the sky above. Everyday activities such as driving your car, walking the dog, gardening, engaging in spectator’s sports and even sitting by a window at work have a huge cumulative effect on your skin’s exposure to harmful UV rays. Luckily we are responsible for 80% of our skin’s destiny* which means its never to late to reverse or slow down damage already done. This being said, it’s extremely important to wear broad-spectrum UVA and UVB sunscreen, sun protective clothing and an authentic ETSIS hat with SunEsape protection panels daily to protect yourself and your skin’s beauty!
